چکیده
We consider the interplay of duality symmetries and gauged isometries of supergravity models giving N -extended, spontaneously broken supergravity with a no-scale structure. Some examples motivated by superstring and M-theory compactifications are described. Invited paper to appear in the review section of the “International Journal of Modern Physics A”.

We study the attractor mechanism for N = 1 supergravity coupled to vector and chiral multiplets and compute the attractor equations of these theories. These equations may have solutions depending on the choice of the holomorphic symmetric matrix f ΛΣ which appears in the kinetic lagrangian of the vector sector. Models with non trivial electric-magnetic duality group which have or have not attra...

In this contribution we describe computational tools that permit the evaluation of multi-loop scattering amplitudes in N = 8 supergravity, in terms of amplitudes in N = 4 super-Yang-Mills theory. We also discuss the remarkable ultraviolet behavior of N = 8 supergravity, which follows from these amplitudes, and is as good as that of N = 4 super-Yang-Mills theory through at least four loops. ∗ In...
متن کاملGauge Fields as Composite Boundary Excitations
We investigate representations of the conformal group that describe “massless” particles in the interior and at the boundary of anti-de Sitter space. It turns out that massless gauge excitations in anti-de Sitter are gauge “current” operators at the boundary. Conversely, massless excitations at the boundary are topological singletons in the interior. These representations lie at the threshold o...

We explore the discovery potential of cosmic ray physics experi-ments for Standard Model processes involving the nonperturba-tive production of >∼ O(α −1W ) ≃ 30 weak gauge bosons. Wedemonstrate an experimental insensitivity to proton-induced pro-cesses and emphasize the importance of neutrino-induced pro-cesses. The Fly’s Eye currently constrains the largest region ...

In this paper we study the number of bound states for potentials in one and two spatial dimensions. We first show that in addition to the well-known fact that an arbitrarily weak attractive potential has a bound state, it is easy to construct examples where weak potentials have an infinite number of bound states. These examples have potentials which decrease at infinity faster than expected. Us...
